 The first weird plant is the White Baneberry.

 Actaea pachypoda or baneberry is a small ball type plant native to North American forests. It is also called as doll’s eye because of its special shaped fruits. This plant stands 60 cm tall and only has very few leaves. It’s red thick stems also look very attractive.

• The fruits of white baneberry are toxic
• The flowers of white baneberry are very small, only have the size of 6mm

The second  weird plant is the Hydnellum Peckii

Hydnellum peckii is a special type of fungi that produce blood or juice like fluid on its surface. This plant is also known as ‘bleeding tooth fungus’. It is the Scarlet pigment causes blood like the color on the fluid of this plant. This strange plant mainly found across North America and Europe. It is edible, but the blood like fluid is extremely bitter in taste.

• Hydnellum peckii has an unpleasant odor
• The color of fluids on Hydnellum peckii can be varied as orange or pink

  the three similarities for two these plants is 

they both have two names, the look weird and yucky

my favourite food is eggs cooked anyway,  but most of all is scrambled eggs with frozen and fresh mixed veggies.

How to make make it.
Well if you have a big family i would  crack 12 eggs into a bowl then put   a half a cup of milk beat it together with a fork.Then half of a teaspoon of salt and a quarter teaspoon of pepper, chop up really small, one onion, chop up some bacon.
add these ingredients to the eggs, defrost half a cup of mixed veggies, put it in the eggs mix all together, put a large pan on the element.Then put a tablespoon  of butter/margarine turn on to medium heat, then when the butter is melted but in the egg mix. cook until the veggies are soft which would probably be 10 minutes. Maybe add extra salt and pepper serve and eat yummmmy scrambled eggs.

while Savannah was tearing and fixing several times i finally finished the card .so i watched people, giggled at people, ( but didn't make it obvious ) and that's all.

   MAGIC SNOW!!   

   Hooray earlier this morning  the students made snow with Room 8!

Firstly,I looked at the packet and I was so excited I got goosebumps.

Next , we got given a little puru (blue) packet with a clear little packet with the polymer inside it. Ms Bracey put half a cup of water and included the water with the polymer. And it rose like a balloon!

At Last,when we put the polymer in the plastic cup

Miss Bracey put more water in the plastic cup, then

the water absorbed . When I played with the snow it wiggled and jiggled like jelly. I was scared that it wouldn't work!

Right after Meena went in the door, Meena’s little sister Leena broke the window.

walking water science experiment.

Title why did we do walking water for science?

Science is the best thing you could do in the world!

Firstly Miss bracey told room 8 what we were doing that was  about science. The science experiment. in fact it is called walking water.

Secondly Miss bracey set it up we needed seven cups ,3 colours, water,and tissues.the food colouring

we used three of primary colours kowhai, kikorangi and whero.

Thirdly we all had a sneak peek at the walking water to look  at what we observed so we can explain what we observed.

To me volleyball is a challenge. On week two on Monday we played volleyball. At volleyball we learn to serve properly,spike and hit the ball.It was hard because when i serve the ball it blows away from the wind it was so difficult.

Secondly in the planetarium there are a few robots in the 3D movie .In the 3D movie there is a spaceship,planets, lots of planets,stars,and more information about space. You can see  southern cross also the false crosses.You can also see  compass points, the compass points are north, west, east, and south. It felt like I  was in a warm globe with comfy seats. Now that's what I call the best globe in the world.

Stardome

Firstly at stardome you learn lots of facts about the solar system. In the corridor there is a spacesuit, information about space and many more space facts like comets which are known as a dirty snowball.




the challenge is the quiz we got one question wrong.

On Thursday we did DMIC It was really hard and frustrating because there was 50 min, 10min, 20min and 30 min so we needed to make an hour  than pick three equations it will equal 3 hours because 9 to 12 is 9 10 11 12 so that’s what it equals 3 hours.

For my puzzle piece I had a 1/20 piece of paper. It was a mystery to see what it would look like
I got told to imagine what it would look like. By the way I had to enlarge the smaller piece to the bigger piece. Drawing my piece was such a adventure for me.

Tripoli A long time ago a boat called Neptune was on the sea. And on the boat there was 764 soldiers in that boat but there was 150 NZ on the boat. Deep in the sea was mines (bombs). The mines got there from their worst enemies the German people. So when they would go over the mines they would blow up. And then with the 764 soldiers in that boat sank with the boat. Tripoli T.P.S Now Tamaki Primary is surrounded in Tripoli Tobruk Benghazi and Alamein I think I know why Tripoli is so close to us. So we can learn about the war and remember them. From Lydia Tumai

Lydia bridges

Room 8 went to the yacht club to view the site of the Panmure Bridge.

The first Panmure Bridge was a swing bridge. 

The swing bridge is not there because it was old so it got demolished.

It was unsafe for cars and people because it could break.

In the olden days, a man called Hemi he would like to sell produce to Australia to  get some money.

Two weeks ago a  concrete bridge collapsed on a 8 lane highway in America and crushed passing cars. One year ago a woman went to cross the 8 lane highway. She was going to the other side to university and she got hit by a car and died. So that is why they made the bridge. Two weeks ago when the  bridge collapsed the emergency  people came. The people under the bridge got really injured. The helicopter was too loud the emergency people couldn't hear the people saying "Help, Help". Some of the people were crushed to death,injured and some people survived.

Hola my name is Lydia, I am 9 years old and I am from New Zealand. I go to Tamaki Primary School this year but last year I went to PES (Pt England School). I am a Year 5. I have two sisters and one brother.I live with my nana, aunt, baby cousin, and my uncle. I am really good at netball. I need to work on maths, but I try. I am a hard worker.  I love my school!
