DAY 3: Taking Flight Activity 1: Bird of the Year!
this is the question write a short description of your bird. Where does your bird normally live? What does your bird normally eat? Post a picture of the bird underneath your description.
my favourite bird is a Tui,this bird normally lives in New Zealand ,Tuis like to eat honey so honey eaters imagine a war between tuis and bees who will win,
It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey reading your blog from my home in wintry Canada. It's so fun to see a photo of one of your favourite New Zealand birds!! I love the Tui - especially the little tuft of white below it's beak. We don't have any birds that have that type of tuft here in Canada!
I think it's really interesting that they're called 'honeyeaters'. I think that's because they live on the nectar from plants, as opposed to the honey from honeybees. But I could be wrong!
You've done a good job of this activity. Do you like to go bird-watching in your neighbourhood? I live in a small town that is situated along the side of a river. I love looking for water birds along the shore line like Great Blue Herons, Loons, Canada Geese, and different kinds of ducks. We have bird feeders in our backyard so we also can see the smaller birds that tend to live in the fields and forests around our town. So cool!
I hope you've enjoyed doing these Summer Learning Journey activities, learning about birds and animals and about keeping our world healthy.
And I hope you're happy in your class this term!! Good luck this year!
